Malas - 27 - Sandalwood

Sandalwood is said to calm the mind, helping you to relax deeply and balance your feelings. It is associated with the crown chakra at the top of the head connecting you to your true self.

A hand mala has 27 counting beads plus one meru bead. The meru (mountain) bead provides a starting and ending point for counting the repetitions of a mantra.

The word mala comes from the Sanskrit meaning garland. Malas are used as meditation beads or prayer beads and used to keep the mind focused and clear from thoughts.
